How I started writing

A guide on how to write, from a reader of many how to start writing posts.

This is a guide on how to write from a reader of many how to start writing posts. You are also reading this and amongst many other articles you have read, the message might not be different.

You are asking the same questions I would ask.
How do you write? Do you sit at your desk with an empty mind? Or are you constantly thinking about what you're going to say next?

To start writing, you are going to have to simply do. And to simply do, here is what got me going.

1) Write every day. Even if it’s just one sentence. You can always edit later.

2) Don't worry too much about grammar and spelling. Just make sure everything makes sense.

3) Read over your work when you finish each paragraph/section. This will give you feedback on whether you've written well enough.

4) Try not to think too much about what you're trying to accomplish by writing this piece. Instead, focus more on expressing yourself through words.

5) When you find something interesting, go back and look up its definition. Then use those definitions to inspire new sentences.

6) Once you've finished drafting, take time to review your work.

As many drafts as a Shakespeare novel, we all have them. Edit later, edit often.
Happy writing.
